Appointments for dental veneers

Your dentist will initially examine your teeth to determine whether they are suitable for veneers. Before proceeding any treatment we will talk you through the process and address any concerns you may have.

Once a treatment plan is agreed the natural teeth are prepared and impressions taken. A return appointment is then arranged when the new veneers are ready (approximately one or two weeks later) for them to be fitted in place and finished.

The benefits of dental veneers

Dental veeners are an effective and quick treatment and the results look very natural. The latest advanced technology enables us to tailor the veneers to the bespoke shape and colour required to best compliment your surrounding natural teeth and leave you with a smile to be proud of.

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are used to cover the fronts of existing teeth. The affected teeth are initially prepared by removing some of the surface enamel to accommodate the new veneers, which are then fitted securely in place using a special adhesive.

We can achieve great aesthetic results with dental veneers as they are able to improve both the shape and colour of teeth. A veneer can be used to cover an individual stained or misshapen tooth so that it matches the rest of your teeth – or multiple veneers can be used for a more general enhancement of a smile.

The colour of the veneers can be accurately specified to the shade of your choice. Due to their durability and resistance to staining, veneers can also keep your smile looking great for longer.

Dental veneers FAQs

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials, such as porcelain or composite resin, that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are used to correct a range of dental issues, including discoloration, chipping, gaps, and misalignment.

How long do dental veneers last?

Dental veneers can last for 10-15 years with proper care and maintenance. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices, such as brushing and flossing regularly, can help extend the lifespan of veneers.

Can dental veneers be whitened?

Dental veneers cannot be whitened with traditional teeth whitening treatments. However, they can be replaced with new veneers that are a brighter shade if desired.

Are dental veneers painful?

The process of getting dental veneers is generally not painful, as local anesthesia is used to numb the tooth and surrounding area during the procedure. However, some patients may experience some sensitivity or discomfort after the procedure, but this usually resolves within a few days.
